Pizzantica Feed the Masses: Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers

Pizzantica’s mobile catering “A Team” led by their fearless leader (capo), Luca Ferone departed from HQ in New Farm and ventured up and over the range to Toowoomba’s annual Carnival of Flowers. For those not familiar with this juggernaut of a festival, it’s taken out the Best Major Event at the Australia Tourism Awards (not once, but for the third successive year) and has been inducted into the Australia Tourism Hall of Fame. The Carnival is the longest running festival of its kind (in Australia) – with 2019 being its 70th anniversary!

The event, without a doubt, grows bigger, brighter and busier each year - 2019’s rendition proved to be no different. 100 hectares of gardens, a record 77 events, a spectacular street parade and an impressive floral installation designed by Bart Hassam (who is he you ask….ohhh! Just the 2019 Interflora World Cup champion).

Having been invited back (for the 6th year running), Capo Ferone knew that with 12,000 people through the gates daily, the story of Pizzantica would be similar to that in the scriptures of Matthew Chapter 14 Verse 13 (Jesus Feeds the 5000).

And it was… described by onlookers as a “well oiled machine”, team Pizzantica peaked at producing a preposterous 185 pizzas per hour, all with one oven (#nofuckingaround – you’re welcome Toowoomba). As always, we stretched, topped, cooked and served all of our pizzas fresh onsite, effectively working out to be an incredible 6 to 7 pizzas every 2 minutes folks!

Moral of this parable; when you want to feed the masses there is no substitute for Pizzantica. With our Italian heritage, expertise in pizza and mobile catering experience we are unrivalled when it comes to authentic pizza mobile catering.

So if you want to throw a flower festival for 12,000 people...or if you have a wedding or engagement entourage to feed, get in touch, we’ve got you covered.
